The Need

With the roll out of the Neighbourhood Delivery Plan due in a couple of months and commissioning intentions being developed, partners wanted to better understand the foundations of neighbourhood planning, share good practice, tips, ideas of where to start and what’s needed to be a successful neighbourhood. Not all partners felt similarly engaged, many wanting to make an early start but unsure who, how and when.

What we did

The NHS 10 year plan had landed some months before and policy and strategy began to be shaped. Clients were telling us they had different levels of engagement and were looking to better understand what the Neighbourhood Plan would mean for them; collaboration, shared governance, developing services, population health management and how the funding would flow.

With our partners Redmoor Health we developed a 3-part series of webinars inviting health, local authority and VCFS representatives to attend an hr long discovery and development session. We hosted guest speakers from the National Neighbourhood programme, case studies, ideas for modelling and importantly an overview of what neighbourhoods means to each sector.

Outcomes

In addition to presentations, we dissected core components of the neighbourhood plan, ambitions, ideas, challenges and barriers. With an incredible mix of attendees from all neighbourhood partners lively discussions, shared learning and ideas about how to get started were developed.

It was very informative with useful examples from other areas and share what worked well and not so well. Good engagement with multiple speakers. Clear and informative case studies. Very interesting and useful to start to our planning.
