The Need

NHS England required a review and compliance assessment for their six SARCs across the South East. Following this review a programme of work was commissioned to assess viability of proposed new locations, refurbish existing sites, to meet new accreditation standards and ensure service user lived experience was at the heart of decision making. Requiring coordinated solutions across multiple agencies and sensitive service environments.

With eight organisations involved, NHS England commissioned At Scale to lead a complex, multi-agency programme to identify suitable premises, design compliant facilities and create a unified approach to SARC development.

What we did

Over a period of 18 months, At Scale managed the full programme lifecycle, assessing existing sites, securing new premises, leading multi-agency design work and developing specifications that prioritised evidence security, victim experience and operational delivery.

Outcomes

Eight organisations aligned around a shared set of solutions, supported by transparent governance and trusted relationships. All six sites are now in build phase, progressing ahead of the accreditation deadline, and the programme provides a national blueprint for future SARC development.

We worked with the At Scale team over many months in this complex project. They brought partners together around a shared vision, an optimised service-user journey and ensured the new SARCs will support high-quality, seamless and holistic care.
